Qualitative and Quantitative are the two types of general data. Quantitative is data the deals with quantities, information that can be measured and put down as numbers on paper. An example quantitative data can be someone’s height, shoe size, and length of hair. Qualitative data is information that can’t be measured but still existed in a sense that we can understand. When taking the two of these and put them into the format of research they both have different aims in trying to collect their own types of information that can be analyzed. Analyzing the research involves having a aim that you want to uncover, using that uncovered data to explain a phenomenon. Also with qualitative research you can use almost all of the data that you may collect, any responses that you have put together from unstructured qualitative methods. Another aspect that needs to be considered about qualitative research is that it doesn’t have a existing set system to identify and label the data. So a research need to use create their own methods using content analysis. Content analysis is a system for labeling verbal or behavioral data so that the data can be put into classification, summariza tion and tabulation classes. This allows the research to analysis the data according to it’s specifically class and allow them to know how to approach the data.
